Use CertSeal in Claude and ChatGPT
Last updated: October 31, 2026
Connect CertSeal to an AI app and run it in plain language: check your allowance, create a batch, issue certificates, email them, and verify a certificate.
CertSeal works with AI apps that support the Model Context Protocol (MCP), including Claude, Claude Code and ChatGPT. Once connected, you can ask the app to work in one of your CertSeal workspaces, and it asks before doing anything that sends email.
What you can ask
- Check your allowance: “How many certificates can I still issue this month?”
- Create a batch: “Create a batch called October Webinar using my Classic design.”
- Issue certificates: “Issue certificates in October Webinar to Ana Lim (ana@example.com) and Ben Tan (ben@example.com). Don’t email them yet.”
- Email certificates: “Email the certificates in October Webinar that haven’t been sent.”
- Fix a recipient: “Change Ben Tan’s email in October Webinar to ben.tan@example.com.”
- Verify a certificate: “Is certificate CERT-2026-003843-000001 genuine?”
Certificates are rendered from the designs you made in CertSeal. The AI app fills in recipients and details; it doesn’t generate certificate artwork.
Before you start
You’ll need:
- A CertSeal account with editor access to a workspace. Viewers can’t connect apps.
- At least one certificate design, and an email template if you want to email certificates.
- An AI app that supports remote MCP servers:
- Claude (claude.ai, the Desktop app and mobile) on any plan. The Free plan allows one custom connector.
- Claude Code.
- ChatGPT on Plus, Business or Enterprise/Edu. ChatGPT Pro can only use read-only tools, such as checking your allowance or verifying a certificate.
The CertSeal server address is:
https://mcp.certseal.com/mcp
Connect Claude
On Pro or Max:
- In Claude, open Customize → Connectors and add a custom connector.
- Enter the name CertSeal and the server address above, and choose Sign in now.
- Sign in to CertSeal in the window that opens and approve the connection (see The consent screen).
- In a chat, open + → Connectors and switch CertSeal on.
On Team or Enterprise, an Owner first adds CertSeal for the whole organization under Organization settings → Connectors. Each member then connects with their own CertSeal account.
The connector also works in the Claude Desktop and mobile apps once it’s added to your account.
Connect Claude Code
Run:
claude mcp add --transport http certseal https://mcp.certseal.com/mcp
Then start Claude Code, type /mcp, choose certseal, and select Authenticate. Your browser opens so you can sign in to CertSeal and approve the connection.
Connect ChatGPT
For a full walkthrough with video and screenshots, see the ChatGPT tutorial.
- Go to chatgpt.com/plugins, select Add in the top right, then Add custom MCP server.
- Name it CertSeal, enter the server address above, and choose OAuth sign-in.
- Review the warning, select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.
- Select Connect CertSeal, then sign in to CertSeal and approve the connection.
On ChatGPT Business, a workspace admin or owner may need to add the server for the workspace first.
The consent screen
When an app connects, CertSeal shows which app is asking and lets you choose:
- Workspace. The app works in this one workspace only. To use another workspace, connect again and pick it.
- Permissions. Every connection can see your designs, batches, recipients and certificates, and create batches and issue certificates, which uses your certificate allowance.
- Email certificates to recipients. Off unless you tick it. Without it, the app can issue certificates, but you send the emails from CertSeal. With it, Claude and ChatGPT still ask you to confirm before each send.
Select Allow to finish. The page shows which CertSeal account is signed in in that browser, and the app connects to that account. If it’s the wrong one, select Use a different account: you sign out, sign in with the right account, and come back to the same request.
Limits
- Up to 100 recipients per request. Larger lists take several requests.
- 200 emails per organization per day through AI apps, on top of the usual sending checks. Emails you send from CertSeal itself don’t count.
- Your certificate allowance applies as usual, including any limit set on the workspace.
- If your organization is on hold, connected apps can read but not create or send.
See and disconnect apps
Open Connected Apps in the left sidebar. It lists each connected app with its workspace, permissions, and when it was connected and last used. Select Disconnect to stop an app’s access immediately.
A connection that isn’t used for 60 days expires; connect again to keep using it. Certificates an app issued stay valid after you disconnect.
Troubleshooting
- “This app can’t connect.” The page names the CertSeal account it checked. If that’s not the account you meant, select Use a different account and sign in with the right one.
- “You need editor access to a workspace to connect an app.” Ask an owner or admin of your organization for editor access to a workspace, or select Use a different account if you meant another account.
- The wrong account or workspace connected. Disconnect it under Connected Apps, then connect again and pick the right account or workspace on the consent screen.
- The app says it doesn’t have permission to send emails. Connect again and tick Email certificates to recipients, or send the emails from CertSeal.
- The app stopped working after a while. Reconnect it from the app. In ChatGPT, open the connection in Plugins and select Refresh.
Privacy
The AI app receives the CertSeal data each request needs, such as batch names and recipient names and emails, and its provider handles that data under its own terms. CertSeal doesn’t see your conversation with the app. See AI apps you connect in our privacy policy.
